"One of the grants that Mrs. Rampey and I were able to work through and get approved was remediation after Hurricane ... for the athletic field," Chad Marsh told the board, estimating the grant at $3,000,000 and noting the requirement to advertise for an architect on single projects above $300,000.
Board members debated whether future RFQs should include more detailed scope descriptions to attract firms with specialized sports-field experience. "For $3,000,000, if you want to do it right... we need to make sure sometimes we have the best," a board member said, urging staff to include clearer scope details in future solicitations.
Action taken: The board approved accepting Holland & Hamrick's RFQ and moving forward with the firm for the remediation project; the vote was unanimous.
Next steps: Staff will coordinate planning with Holland & Hamrick and building-and-grounds stakeholders to define a detailed scope and bring procurement documents back to the board as required.
