The Wylie Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a contract to install the sewer line that will serve the high school tennis building.
The contract is part of the district’s broader high school site work to allow new facilities and parking to function once construction is complete.
District staff recommended a TIPS (interlocal purchasing) contract with a contractor represented in the meeting as Jerry Hallmark and his company. The contract amount presented to the board was $176,882; staff said they included a contingency for unforeseen underground conditions and that unused contingency funds would be returned to district accounts. Staff also said other quotes for the same work were closer to $300,000.
Staff explained the work will go under Antley Road and that the contractor expected to start at the end of the month once permits and reviews are complete. The district’s construction manager will coordinate permit submittals and inspections with the city. Trustees voted to approve the contract as presented.
Board discussion connected the sewer-line installation to related site work: regrading and drainage adjustments on the adjacent softball parking lot, and sequencing that work so paving and final parking configurations are completed after heavy construction activity is finished. Staff said they expect the sewer utility work to be finished this summer so the site is ready for the fall semester.
