WYLIE ISD staff provided an operational update on multiple construction projects and campus readiness steps ahead of the school year.
Presenters reported progress on the new elementary school (interior studs, electrical and plumbing), an agricultural building at the high school and unfinished high-school roofing expected to be completed a few weeks into the school year. Staff said the remaining parking lot paving would be finished within three weeks and that band hall and athletic-area expansions will begin soon.
At the junior high, staff reported uneven HVAC temperatures in some buildings and said technicians were working to finish controller programming; most rooms were reported functioning though a few required troubleshooting. At West Junior High, track base work had been delayed by weather and contractor availability; staff said Paragon (the contractor) had high standards and expected work to resume soon. Playground fencing and secure access were said to be near completion, with staff aiming for secured fencing in place by the next day and backfilling and cleanup underway.
Board members asked practical questions, such as whether playground areas would be safe for recess; staff said crews were cleaning and securing sites with the intent of opening playgrounds when safe. Trustees and staff discussed continued work on roof gravel removal, parking lot access and coordination around truck traffic, with staff reporting active weekend work and close monitoring of safety and access.
No formal board votes were recorded for these status updates; staff said they would continue to coordinate construction schedules with campus leaders to minimize disruption on opening days.
