A Glencoe resident told the Village Board that ongoing construction adjacent to their home has created damage, shading and disturbances over about three years and asked the village not to grant another extension or a permanent extension for the work.
The resident said the project began without full site fencing and at times involved heavy equipment close to the property; they said trees and shading on the side of the house have been affected and that they had documented the issues with photographs. The resident said they had followed staff instructions to document conditions and submit photographs.
Board members and staff asked clarifying questions, including whether the resident’s specific request was to deny the current extension or to deny a future permanent extension; the resident said the extension continued the damage and that they did not want more construction. Staff told the resident they would continue to work with them and asked to remain in contact so staff can follow up.
During the meeting the president read the village’s public comment rules (three minutes per speaker and a total public‑comment allotment per policy). A staff member said the village had recently increased fees for extensions to encourage timely removal of temporary structures and that staff will continue communications with property owners and neighbors.
No formal action or vote on the resident’s request was recorded at the meeting; staff follow‑up was described as the next step.
