The Abington School Board on Wednesday approved an employment contract naming Patricia Denicola as the district’s chief financial officer.

Superintendent Dr. Fetcher introduced Denicola during the meeting and summarized her background. “Miss Denicola brings an impressive background consisting of both public and private sector financial leadership experience,” Dr. Fetcher said, noting Denicola’s prior role as CFO for Boyertown School District and as executive director of the Public Health Insurance Cooperative where she oversaw a roughly $145 million budget. The administration said Denicola holds an MBA from Lehigh University and is a certified public accountant.

The personnel addendum presented to the board included Denicola’s employment contract along with other personnel items; the board approved the item by roll-call vote with all members present voting in favor. Board members who served on the hiring committee described a competitive candidate pool and praised Denicola’s public-finance and K–12 experience.

Administrators said Denicola’s appointment is timed as part of a CFO transition and that the board will later elect a board secretary and finalize administrative responsibilities tied to the finance office. Denicola’s contract and any additional employment details are part of routine personnel addenda filed with the board.
