The Groves City Council on Aug. 11 approved hotel-occupancy-tax funding for the Groves Pecan Festival, amending the applicant’s $17,772 request to a not-to-exceed $18,000 reimbursement with receipts. Festival organizers described a marketing package that includes digital and static billboards, radio remotes, magazine co-op placements, and statewide promotion channels such as Texas Highways and regional visitor guides.
The festival representative said organizers secured a free Texas Highways listing and purchased two-week digital-billboard runs and live radio remotes; she said the advertising plan targets Jefferson County and nearby markets to boost regional attendance. Council amended the motion to set $18,000 as the reimbursement cap and to require submission of receipts before reimbursement.
Council voted to approve the amended motion. Staff confirmed that insurance and the prior-year breakdown were provided in the packet and that disbursement will be by reimbursement on presentation of receipts.
