The Columbia County Planning Commission elected Commissioner Holloway as its vice chair and acknowledged the recent appointment of Russell Wilder to fill the District 2 seat during its Aug. 21, 2025 meeting.
The nomination and second for Holloway’s selection were made during the meeting’s opening business, and the commission carried the motion by voice/hand raise. The commission also approved the minutes from its Aug. 7 meeting and adopted the evening’s agenda.
The action follows the chair’s announcement that “we do have a quorum this evening” and that “a member on our planning and zoning, Mister Russell Wilder has taken District 2 and appointed.” The chair then opened nominations for the office of vice chair; a commissioner moved to nominate Commissioner Holloway and another commissioner seconded the nomination. With no additional nominations, the commission closed nominations and voted to install Holloway as vice chair.
The chair also clarified that the Planning Commission is a recommending body and that decisions on rezoning and variance requests will be forwarded to the Columbia County Board of Commissioners for final action at its Sept. 2, 2025 meeting. The commission approved procedural items before proceeding to public-hearing business.
Routine procedural approvals and the leadership vote concluded the commission’s introductory business and set the agenda for the evening’s public hearings.
