On Sept. 9 the Act Committee reviewed proposed amendments to Chapter 3-38 that would revise the Westchester Community Campus Committee's duties and membership and recommended scheduling a public hearing in a work session for formal consideration.
Committee Chair Brian Travis described the redlined draft and said the changes add duties and encourage resident participation: "I like it. It expands a lot of the the duties that are actually by borough residents," he said, noting prior meetings where university participants were prominent and the draft seeks to increase borough representation. The draft also referenced greater coordination with Westchester University on events planning.
No one from the WCCC attended the Sept. 9 meeting. Committee members expressed support for the draft as a way to clarify committee responsibilities and to encourage collaboration between borough residents and the university. Travis said he would recommend the amendment be placed on the work-session agenda for a vote.
Ending: The committee agreed to schedule a public hearing and work-session consideration of the proposed Chapter 3-38 amendments; no ordinance was adopted at the Sept. 9 meeting.
