Council extends vested-rights periods for Cimarron Park and Beaumont within Candelas development

The council approved two separate ordinances extending vested-rights periods for developments within the Candelas master plan. Council Bill CB25‑017, a fourth amendment to the Cimarron Park development agreement, and CB25‑018, a third amendment for Beaumont, were approved on final reading by unanimous votes.
Planning staff said most required infrastructure work for Cimarron Park has been completed except for a traffic signal at State Highway 72 and Candelas Parkway; a previously identified 12-by-8 reinforced-concrete box (RCB) crossing at Twin Lake Basin is no longer required. Council members asked staff to ensure the traffic-signal obligation remains part of the vested-rights extensions.
Staff recommended approval of both requests, which extend the period during which the projects may rely on their previously granted approvals; the extensions allow the developments to continue under the original entitlements through the new expiration date in 2035.
