Radcliffe planning staff told council members that the Planning Commission recommended approval of a zone‑map amendment for 38.76 acres at 2787 Hill Street, converting a parcel currently split between residential‑holding (RH) and R‑2 to solely R‑2 residential.
Murray (planning staff) said the request, filed by Glenn Turner, would simplify the parcel’s zoning. "The existing zone classifications are RH and R‑2... the property is currently being used as a farm," Murray said. He explained that RH is a holding classification intended for limited use until an owner or developer seeks a permanent residential classification, and that substantial surrounding land is already zoned R‑2.
Murray told the council that the planning commission saw the request as consistent with surrounding lower‑density single‑family development and recommended approval. Council members raised questions about hunting and buffers near Fort Knox; staff said the planning record included a Fort Knox letter for other nearby rezonings but that this particular request did not impose a binding buffer and that hunting and noise issues had been addressed in prior joint land‑use studies.
The meeting transcript shows no final council vote; staff said the planning commission record and the public‑hearing transcript will be made available for council review before any final council action.
