County approves $18,000 opioid‑settlement grant for Broadlands‑Longview Fire Protection District

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The Champaign County Board on Wednesday approved an agreement with the Broadlands‑Longview Fire Protection District funded from the county’s opioid settlement proceeds and adopted a budget amendment increasing appropriations by $18,000.
The board adopted resolution 2025/244 approving the agreement and resolution 2025/245 to amend the opioid settlement fund budget (BUA 2025/7/473) to appropriate $18,000 for the district. Board members noted that similar apparatus had been provided to other fire districts and encouraged any district that lacked the equipment to apply through the county’s opioid settlement process.
The resolution was moved and seconded and then adopted by roll call; the board’s clerk recorded the vote and the chair announced the motion carried.
County staff thanked the opioid settlement task force and a community representative, Clayton Bosch, who attended the meeting, for advancing the request. The appropriation was described as directly supporting fire‑district equipment needs via approved settlement‑fund awards.
