Evergreen Park SD 124 staff reported at the Aug. 13 meeting that the district has filled every certified position for the 2025–26 school year and described hiring and substitute recruitment efforts.
Presenters said the district recorded 47 total hires this summer across certified and non‑certified categories, including 29 certified teacher hires and eight certified male hires. The district reported six minority certified hires and three minority non‑certified hires. The HR presenter credited strategies such as internal promotions, attendance at nine job fairs, an employee referral program and the district's Grow‑Your‑Own program for successful recruitment.
On substitutes, staff said the district maintains an average pool of about 60 substitutes and has taken steps to retain and support substitutes, including sub job fairs, revamped application processes through Frontline, a shadow day for new substitutes, sub guides, and daily inquiries and engagement by HR. The district also noted it employs three permanent substitutes.
Why it matters: maintaining certified staff and a reliable substitute pool supports classroom continuity and the district's ability to deliver instruction without gaps.
Next steps: HR will continue outreach and will present future reports on the Grow‑Your‑Own program and staffing outcomes to the board.
