DuPage HSD 88 formally recognized Rick and Monica Whittingham of Whittingham and Sons Meats Incorporated as a district business partner during the board meeting.
Doctor Bartmanente introduced the Whittinghams and said they are frequent volunteers at Addison Trail High School and “the epitome of involved and engaged community members” who support students and families. The board presented the couple with a framed certificate naming them a District 88 business partner.
Board materials and the presentation cited specific contributions: donating T‑shirts and meat for the Relay for Life District 88 youth program, supplying turkeys for the Thanksgiving staff turkey giveaway, providing meat annually for Addison Trail’s Kermes (a Latino food festival), donating boxes of meat to Addison Trail families during the 2019 coronavirus pandemic, and sponsoring more than 10 families during recent holidays.
Rick Whittingham accepted the recognition and said he and his wife give back because they consider Addison their home. “When you’re fortunate like that, you give back,” he said.
Why it matters: The district said community business partners help support student activities and family needs that go beyond what district funds cover. The presentation framed the Whittinghams’ contributions as both charitable and volunteer support that benefits school events and vulnerable families.
