District 88 faces modest medical and dental premium increases for 2025–26, officials say

DuPage High School District 88 officials reviewed final medical and dental premium renewals for the 2025–26 school year during the April 14 board meeting, reporting modest increases driven by the Educational Benefit Cooperative (EBC).
District staff reported that the EBC pool produced a 6.9% premium increase for the medical PPO and a 5.2% increase for the medical HMO plan. "The renewal terms for the EBC pool medical PPO plan reflected an average loss ratio of 104.1 percent," the presenter said, adding that the district’s own experience was slightly below the pool average.
Dental rates varied: the dental PPO will increase 7.1% while the dental HMO rates remain unchanged. Officials noted about 91% of staff select the dental PPO plan. Life and AD&D insurance rates through Reliance showed no change, and disability pricing had been secured separately.
Staff described ongoing wellness and prevention activities meant to restrain future costs, including on-site flu shots, biometric screenings through Empower Health (258 participants this year) and an exercise program with Navigate Well-being.
No formal board vote was required on the renewal at the meeting; staff said the changes will be shared with employees during the district open-enrollment period.
