District 88 Foundation promotes fall fundraiser, reports mini-grants awarded to teachers

A representative of the District 88 Foundation updated the board on the foundation's activities, promoted the second annual Gathering at the Grapevine fundraiser on Sept. 20, and reviewed the foundation's mini-grant program history.
Danny Brink, speaking for the foundation, described PIE Foundation's status as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving District 88 and associated elementary districts and listed past and upcoming fundraising events including the Gathering at the Grapevine on Sept. 20, a pickleball tournament planned for early March 2026, and other community events. Brink provided the web address for ticket purchases and sponsorship information.
Brink said funds raised have supported AP and college-level tests, the Addison Trail freshman trip to Madison, summer camps, the Mindprints Art and Literary Magazine at Willowbrook, and other student programs. Since introducing mini grants in the 2013–14 school year, the foundation has awarded 102 mini grants and helped secure $78,675.27 for students, he said.
The foundation invited parents, alumni, staff and community members to donate and volunteer; Brink provided a contact email and phone number for those seeking more information or wishing to join the foundation.
The board received the foundation update during the public comment portion of the meeting; no board action was required.
