Administrators said K-5 summer classes (about three hours per day) will focus on math and ELA and address identified learning gaps; staff identified 32 elementary students who must attend to progress to the next grade and roughly 79 additional elementary students invited for extra support. Middle-school programming will include math, ELA and other content; high-school students will pursue credit recovery using Apex curriculum with teacher oversight.
The district will operate summer sites at Madison, Breggen and the high school, provide transportation routed through the district's bus company and coordinate details with families. Administrators said secretaries contact families with pickup and drop-off times; the program uses targeted materials (Envision' summer resources) to focus on standards where students struggle.
Administrators reported about 200 total summer-school participants district-wide, noted year-over-year participation is similar to last year, and said the program is a fast-paced, intensive month of instruction intended to reduce summer learning loss and ensure readiness for fall courses.
