The Dixon Unit School District 170 Board of Education on the record authorized the results of the April 1, 2025, school board election and administered the oath of office to four elected members. The board said 1,796 voters cast ballots in the election and noted the vote totals reported to the Lee County Clerk and Hogle County.
Board leaders said Brandon Rogers received 1,246 votes; Linda Wagner received 1,316; John Wadsworth received 1,275; and Linda LeBlanc Parks received 1,303. A motion to authorize the election results and to “claim” those four as elected members was moved and carried in a roll-call vote.
The board asked Melissa, a district staff member, to administer the statutory oath of office. Each member read and affirmed the oath, which invoked the U.S. Constitution, the Constitution of the State of Illinois and the law of Illinois, and included commitments to protect district assets, respect taxpayer interests, encourage community participation and to abide by majority decisions made at public board meetings.
Board members present recorded their votes during roll call when the motions were considered. The motions to authorize the election results and to declare the four members elected passed by recorded affirmative votes.
Board members and staff confirmed the results were those reported to the county clerk and proceeded immediately with the oath; no separate challenge or contest of the reported tallies was recorded on the meeting record.
The board adjourned the certification items after completing the oaths and moved on to organizational business, including officer elections and scheduling future meetings.
