Galena board accepts $5,000 donation from Muckle family for GHS gym seat backs

A family representative described Howard Muckle as a 1974 Galena High School alumnus and longtime supporter of GHS athletics and said the family initially gave $500 to the Galena Athletic Booster Club and presented $5,000 to the board to be used “tentatively as earmarked to be used in the new GHS gym home side, front row bleacher seat backs.”
Board member John moved to accept the donation “as presented.” A second was recorded; the board took a unanimous roll-call vote and recorded acceptance of the donation.
No budgetary or funding action was required beyond the motion to accept the gift. The family and board members paused for photographs after the vote.
