The ASD School Board heard Aug. 19 that a recent override of a gubernatorial veto by the state legislature unlocked roughly $10 million for the district and that the district used board-authorized flexibility to deploy additional classroom positions ahead of the school year. Dr. Bryant, an administrator who led the briefing, thanked legislators and said the funds allowed the district to begin hiring immediately.
Mr. Lang, a district staff member who spoke on recruitment and hiring, reported that the district opened the school year with about 122 certificated vacancies, down from 148 the previous year.
