Conroe ISD names assistant superintendent, three principals in special meeting

The appointments were presented to the board for approval and carried by show of hands.
The recommendations came during the human resources portion of a shortened special meeting. Doctor Landry introduced the candidates, saying the district sought “someone with experience leading successful campuses” for the middle‑school assistant superintendent role and praised Klopecky’s 27 years of campus leadership. The board then approved the HR report and the appointments in consecutive votes, each recorded as 6-0.
After her appointment, Dr. Paula Klopecky addressed trustees and the audience, thanking district leaders and colleagues and saying she was “humbled to be given the opportunity to serve in this capacity.” Wendy Spears, named to lead the Oak Ridge ninth‑grade campus, told the board she had worked in Conroe ISD for 20 years and said she was “grateful to be part of a district that does so much for kids and builds up those who serve them.” Dr. Frederick Black Jr. also thanked the board and community after his appointment.
The board noted two trustees were out of town for the meeting; Trustee Horton streamed in for parts of the session. No contested nominations or public objections to the appointments were recorded during the meeting.
The appointments were handled so the district could proceed with special recognitions and campus transitions without delay; trustees moved on to budget and policy items after the approvals.
