Carrie, a SHAC member, said recent research indicates children absorb more electromagnetic fields than adults and suggested new campus construction should avoid placing wireless towers adjacent to schools. "Your child's brain absorbs 2 to 3 times as many EMFs as yours," she said, and asked whether SHAC members wanted to form a fall group to develop information and recommendations.
Carrie said she has prepared a new slide deck and referenced contracts that may bind districts to existing wireless arrangements at some sites. She also said she is on the board of a nonprofit that researches environmental toxins and that the topic is a personal priority. She invited other SHAC members to share resources in the GroupMe chat for easier access.
No district staff presented technical analysis or policy options during the meeting, and SHAC did not take formal action. Members who expressed interest were directed to coordinate via GroupMe and plan for possible work in the fall.
