The Morris County Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 27 approved minutes, adopted several resolutions and authorized payment of the county’s bills during a short, procedural meeting at the Administration of Records Building in Morristown.
Deputy Director Steven Shaw opened the meeting and said it was available for in-person attendance and live viewing via Webex. The clerk read a public-meeting notice stating, “Notice of this meeting has been provided through resolution adopted by this board on 01/03/2025,” and describing how the meeting was posted and how members of the public could submit comments prior to the meeting.
The board approved the Aug. 13 work session, executive meeting and regular meeting minutes by voice vote. Commissioners then voted to adopt a bundle of resolutions on the evening’s consent agenda; the record shows Commissioners Smith, Myers, Cabana, Crickus and Deputy Director Shaw voting yes on the roll call. The board also authorized payment of bills by roll call vote with the same recorded affirmative responses.
There were no written comments submitted in advance, and no members of the public spoke during the open public-comment period; the chair closed the public portion after a brief pause. A commissioner noted the board had recently adopted several historic-preservation resolutions “including some of our church properties.”
No ordinances were on the agenda, and the meeting included no policy debates or substantive public testimony. After brief remarks and routine roll-call votes, the board adjourned.
Attendees listed on the record included Deputy Director Steven Shaw (presiding), Director Typhoon Sullen (absent, on vacation), County Administrator Dina Leary, Assistant County Administrator Brian Murray, County Counsel John Napolitano, Assistant County Counsel Stacy Santucci and Doug Lynch, clerk of the board.
