The board approved the 2025–26 student code of conduct, updated for recent legislative changes and TASB recommendations; a trustee asked for clearer guidance on artificial intelligence provisions.
Comal ISD trustees approved the district’s 2025–26 student code of conduct on a unanimous vote Thursday after administrators said the document reflects recent legislative changes and Texas Association of School Boards recommendations.
Korby Wunderlich, presenting, told the board the code has been reviewed internally and approved by the district attorney. The presentation included a one-page summary that identifies each proposed change and its origin. The board did not amend the code during the meeting.
Trustee David Krasinski asked specifically about language addressing artificial intelligence, calling the provision ambiguous and noting it may be difficult for administrators and students to know what constitutes misuse. Superintendent Chapman and staff said they are awaiting further guidance from the Texas Education Agency on enforcement and interpretation.
The board voted 7–0 to adopt the student code of conduct as presented and asked staff to provide implementation guidance where legislative language is unclear.
