The board approved the date after staff noted the district must publish a notice of public meeting by Aug. 15. "As part of our annual budget and tax rate adoption process, school districts must publish a notice of public meeting to discuss budget and proposed tax rate," a staff presenter told trustees, recommending the Aug. 25 date. The board approved the recommendation by motion without recorded opposition. The superintendent's office said the notice must be published by Aug. 15 and that the board must approve the hearing date at a public meeting. Trustees did not adopt a tax rate at this meeting; the scheduled hearing will allow public comments and further board consideration ahead of formal adoption.
