Commissioners approve preliminary farmland preservation appraisal for Delaware Township property

The Hunter County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 19 approved a resolution to begin the appraisal process for a farmland preservation application submitted by 23 L R LLC for property identified as Block 25, Lots 1605 and 1606 in Delaware Township. County staff explained the resolution allows the appraisal and other preparatory steps but does not complete a preservation purchase; it is the preliminary administrative action needed to move a farmland preservation application forward. The motion to approve was moved and seconded and passed by roll call. The board did not approve acquisition or funding for the property at Tuesday’s meeting; staff said additional steps, including appraisal results and negotiated terms, would be required before any preservation purchase could be completed.
