Clear Creek ISD names Tammy Pickett director of transportation as new bus-tracking rollout begins

Clear Creek Independent School District trustees voted to approve Tammy Pickett as director of transportation and heard staff describe a new bus-tracking system aimed at improving family communication. The board approved Pickett’s appointment by voice vote after a motion to accept the superintendent’s recommendation. The appointment matters because Pickett has been serving as interim director, and the district said she has nearly four years as assistant director in the department plus about 15 years in transportation roles at other districts. "Miss Pickett is currently the interim director and she's been in the department as assistant director for almost 4 years," a district official told trustees at the meeting. Superintendent/administration representatives told the board the district will roll out a transportation system that allows parents to see where their student is on the bus route and whether the bus is running behind. "The system will improve overall communication with families," said the superintendent's presenter, adding the tool will be rolled out over the first semester and parents will receive information in the coming weeks. Trustees did not identify additional conditions tied to the appointment. The board approved the motion without opposition. District staff said Pickett previously served in transportation departments in other districts as a director, supervisor and specialist and that trustees were "excited that she's moving into that role." The district also noted ongoing work to ensure student safety beyond buses, including restroom redesigns in secondary schools and back-to-school enrollment information for families. District staff said they will provide parents with rollout details before implementation and continue operational updates through usual channels.
