Johnson County supervisors on Aug. 7 reported receiving an updated proposal from Shive-Hattery for a new jail and law enforcement facility with a current cost estimate of $106,000,000, excluding land acquisition costs.

The chair reported that the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee (CJCC) will receive the Shive-Hattery report next Thursday. The chair said the estimate does not include land costs because the county hopes to work with a city partner to provide land.

No formal board action was taken at the Aug. 7 meeting on the facility proposal; the report was presented as an update and next steps include CJCC review and future discussion about site and financing.
