The Johnson County Board of Supervisors on July 31 approved a resolution granting a permanent underground electric-line easement to Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative to improve electrical reliability in the western part of the county. The board opened a public hearing, received a staff report, heard no public opposition, and adopted the resolution by a 4-0 vote.
Brad (staff) told the board the easement would allow Linn County REC to make electrical upgrades and would also enable running a line in front of Kent Park in the right-of-way. “We are just requesting the board's approval of this permanent underground easement for the Linn County REC,” Brad said, explaining the work would improve electrical reliability.
The board asked if anyone wished to speak during the public hearing; there were no public comments and the chair closed the hearing. Supervisor Sullivan moved approval and Supervisor Remington seconded; roll call vote was unanimous. The resolution was adopted as item d-3 on the agenda.
The transcript and staff remarks indicate the easement is permanent and intended to support reliability upgrades and a line adjacent to Kent Park. No contract amounts, construction schedules, or environmental reviews were presented in the meeting record.
