The Johnson County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 7 approved right-of-way purchase contracts for the Beartown Road Southwest bridge replacement and authorized public notices setting bid lettings for two bridge projects on Sept. 9, 2025.
The board approved a contract to purchase approximately 0.02 acres of right-of-way from Tyler B. Grout and Jenna M. Grout for $600 for the Beartown Road Southwest bridge replacement project (project LFM-Q-23-7--7X-52). The board also approved a contract to purchase approximately 0.16 acres of right-of-way from Michelle R. Phillips for $2,660 for the same Beartown Road project. Both motions passed on 4-0 roll-call votes.
County staff were authorized to publish a notice to bidders for the Beartown Road Southwest bridge replacement and set a letting date of Sept. 9, 2025, at 9 a.m. The board separately authorized the county auditor to publish a notice to bidders and set a Sept. 9, 2025, 9 a.m. letting for the Greencastle Avenue Southwest bridge replacement (project L-M-18-1--73-52). Both authorizations passed 4-0.
No public comment or discussion opposing the purchases or letting dates was recorded during the motions. The actions are limited to approving the contracts and authorizing publication of bid notices; no construction contracts were awarded at the meeting.
County staff will proceed with publishing the bid notices and accepting bids for the scheduled lettings.
