The district’s legal counsel advised filing a petition to annex the strip; staff said the board will be asked to approve the petition at the next regular meeting so the village may place annexation and zoning on its Aug. 5 agenda. Staff also said the village will need to address a small portion of the strip related to a village-owned water tower site as part of its Aug. 5 actions.
Staff said the annexation is a formality to keep the district’s project schedule on track. They are preparing bid documents and expect to bring a construction contract recommendation to the board in August, with a goal of breaking ground this fall. No formal annexation vote occurred at the July 21 meeting; staff asked the board to approve the petition next week to keep the schedule intact.
