CCSD facilities staff said they confirmed the chapter ordered a sturdier solar fixture after an earlier low‑quality light was returned. The chapter will supply an electrician who plans to mount the solar fixture to an existing pole using u‑bolts. Facilities reported the new unit appears more durable than the makeshift light previously installed.
Board members, staff and community speakers used the agenda item to discuss broader student safety concerns at rural bus stops and asked administrators to inventory other stops that may need lighting, signage, or shoulder work. Trustees discussed exploring grants, coordination with state road and right‑of‑way authorities, and options such as solar repeaters and communications upgrades for bus routes that may be darker under changes to daylight‑saving policy.
There was no formal vote on the light; trustees instructed staff to begin inventorying priority stops and to explore funding options so the district can act quickly if more lights are needed.
