The board approved a reduced set of repairs and replacements for Filburn Auditorium that the facilities committee recommended as the minimum needed to restore functionality.
Staff said the original project scope was larger (about $365,000–$370,000) but was pared back to focus on urgent, failing items: audio repairs (sound board problems), lighting and light-board replacement, a computer/control upgrade and replacement of a torn and stained side drape. Staff said some of the previously desired digital upgrades were deferred and could be added later.
A facilities committee member noted the revised package reflects what the district characterized as the “bare minimum to get the program back up to where it should be.” Board discussion confirmed the work is within the current budget and that the committee had worked with vendor quotes and district staff to define the reduced scope. The board made the motion and approved the repairs as recommended by the facilities committee.
Action taken: the board voted to approve the Filburn Auditorium repairs/replacements as the facilities committee recommended. Staff said the work is intended to restore basic audio, lighting and stage functionality; more extensive digital upgrades may be considered in future budgets.
