District reports bus-card distribution totals; electric-bus grant and infrastructure details still pending

Coleman said cards are used primarily for high-school students to access after-school programs, pathway programs and work opportunities; distribution is handled by school offices and program staff who sign cards out to students as needed. She said the district hopes for additional state funding (an anticipated but not-yet-confirmed allocation) to offset transportation costs.
On the electric-bus front, Coleman and Doctor White reported that First Student signed a utility-rebate partnership template in October and that the proposed grant would cover up to 50 electric buses in a scenario tied to the transportation contract. Coleman cautioned that First Student rents the bus yard property and that electrification requires infrastructure planning for charging and site modifications. She said the district had not yet received firm information on utility grants or whether First Student had been awarded funding; she planned follow-up with First Student.
