Committee forwards literacy, speech, behavioral-health and operations contracts to full board

The committee packet described a renewal with Boundless Literacy to provide intensive tier-2 and tier-3 reading interventions at Truax Clemente (Troop) and Lincoln-Bassett, funded by the Commissioner’s Network and school improvement grants. A district presenter said Boundless provided services last year at other schools and will expand to Lincoln-Bassett for the 2025–26 school year.
Two individual contracts with speech-language providers — identified in the packet as agreements with Stephanie Gardner and Darlene Ortiz — were presented as one-line items to supply required speech and language remediation services tied to students’ individualized education plans.
A no-cost amendment to the district’s agreement with Cornell Scott Hill Health Center would move behavioral-health services from a recently closed site to Beecher School with no change in funding, district staff said.
The committee also reviewed purchase orders: renewal of Second Step social-emotional-learning materials, which staff said have supported more than 4,500 lessons across the district, and a state-contract purchase with Utility Communications for monitoring and service of school fire alarms and emergency dialers.
Committee members thanked staff for details in the packet and had no objections; the committee chair moved that these three agreements, one amendment and two purchase orders be sent to the full board. The motion was seconded and carried.
