Hamilton County commissioners approved multiple Paycor Stadium construction items and an emergency repair at their Aug. 28 meeting.
Phil Beck, the stadium project executive, described three remaining trade contracts for club-level architectural interiors, HVAC and electrical work tied to vertical-transportation and escalator rehabilitation. Commissioners asked about local participation in bids; staff said two bids were received for HVAC and the lower bidder, Northern Kentucky Heating and Cooling, submitted a substantially lower price than the alternate bid.
Separately the board considered an emergency pipe repair above a recently renovated locker room; facilities staff described continuing leakage and a crack in the pipe’s center. Joe Paul and stadium staff provided quotes as required under Ohio law for emergency procurements. The pipe repair solution staff expects to use is an in-place sleeve wrap intended as a permanent repair. Because the procurement uses an emergency exception in the Ohio Revised Code, the board was told a unanimous vote was required. Commissioners voted unanimously to authorize the emergency repair and to approve the trade contracts presented as part of the Paycor package. Staff said the pipe’s leak is being managed while repair work is scheduled and will be executed promptly to avoid greater damage.
