Committee approves band shell at Klipstein Park; donors and a $50,000 grant support the project

The Ashwaubenon Site Plan Review Committee on June 3 approved a site plan review request for a band shell at Klipstein Park, 900 Anderson Drive (Parcel VA-129).
Aaron, a village staff member, described the location and elevation materials, and noted the property is subject to environmental controls from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and that the applicant is coordinating with the DNR. "It should be noted that the property is, subject to environmental controls through the DNR, and the applicant is working with the DNR and making sure that all environmental restrictions and appropriate cautions are maintained," Aaron said.
A resident who spoke at the meeting praised the fundraising and the finished design and described donor recognition plans, saying the donor plaque will be black granite and that the granite block will be 24 by 48 inches. The resident also said the project is privately funded and will be turned over to the village after construction. "This is private money going in, but once it gets built, it'll be turned over to the village," the resident said. The resident added that the village applied for a grant and received $50,000 toward the project.
Aaron also showed plans indicating the existing concrete slab at the performance location would be removed and replaced with the band shell, which will face south and feature stone, brick and cable guardrails. A committee member moved and the committee approved the site plan.
The committee approval advances the project to permitting and construction planning; the transcript records that a building permit will be required and that environmental restrictions with the DNR are being addressed, but it does not list a contractor-level schedule or construction start date.
