Committee approves park shelter at Pioneer Elementary School; will require building permits

The Ashwaubenon Site Plan Review Committee on June 3 approved a site plan for a park shelter at Pioneer Elementary School, 1360 Ponderosa Avenue, to be located on an existing concrete pad adjacent to Baseball Diamond I.
Aaron, a village staff member, told the committee the project is a partnership between the school district and Ashwaubenon Girls Youth Softball and that the property is zoned Zone P (Public Use), which allows the shelter as a permitted use. "It is a partnership between the school district and Ashwaubenon Girls, Youth Softball, to request the park shelter," Aaron said.
Aaron noted the shelter must meet construction requirements for park shelters, including uplift resistance so the structure will not tip in a windstorm, and that a building permit and accessory-structure permit are required before construction begins. During committee discussion a member asked whether the shelter was elevated; Aaron clarified the visible elements were footings, not an elevated floor: "Yep, that's exactly right. Those are just the footings that you see there." A motion to approve the site plan carried.
The committee’s approval clears the site-plan step; permit applications, plan review and inspections remain required before construction can start.
