HR Director Ms. Perry read the resolution, which cited suicide as a preventable public health issue and referenced the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network. The resolution urged citizens to raise awareness, reduce stigma and encourage those in need to seek help, and it referenced national and local resources including the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network.
One commissioner noted that the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network resource packet had been uploaded to the city27s online agenda packet and encouraged residents to use local and regional resources; another speaker who identified as a social worker in emergency mental health thanked the commission and urged sharing the 988 number.
The resolution was presented for adoption on the consent agenda; no formal vote was recorded in the work session. Staff said the item will appear on the regular meeting consent agenda for action.
