Red Bank commissioners adopt recodified zoning ordinance on second and final reading

The ordinance consolidates five previously passed ordinances into the city’s zoning code, including earlier measures establishing the municipal planning commission, its organization and functions, member selection criteria, and an annual member compensation provision. Director Slay presented the ordinance as a housekeeping and code-maintenance action intended to bring multiple past ordinances into a single chapter for clarity and administration.
The vote was recorded as unanimous. Mayor Stephanie Dalton voted yes; Vice Mayor Holly Berry voted yes; Commissioner Jamie Fairbanks Harvey voted yes; Commissioner Terry Holmes voted yes; Commissioner Hazel Kingston Wilkinson voted yes. There were no public comments at the hearing.
Why this matters: consolidating the city’s planning and zoning rules into a single, updated chapter is intended to simplify administration and public use of the code; the ordinance also preserves provisions such as the $300 annual compensation for planning commission members that were adopted previously.
The board closed the public hearing on the recodification after Director Slay’s presentation and moved the ordinance to its final reading and adoption. No further action was requested of staff at the meeting.
