Committee staff reported that much of the campus furniture and musical instruments have been removed and distributed to nearby school districts and community groups, but some library books and at least one piano remain on site. A committee member said school districts "were able to use" most musical instruments and that Weston took several upright pianos. Staff confirmed the county and a local foundation have taken items and that Pine Valley will inspect kitchen items to identify what it wants. "A lot of the stuff has been used," a committee member said when describing donations to surrounding districts and community groups. Committee members noted some practical constraints: several of the remaining tables are not foldable, which could limit reuse by certain recipients, and staff said they will recheck the site to inventory remaining items. Staff also said they had reached out to a small church associated with Rockbridge School about library books and were awaiting a response. The transcript contains differing references to the grand piano(s): at one point staff said a piano remained on site; later staff said an "old grand piano" had been taken and that another lower-value practice piano had also been removed. Because the transcript records both statements, the committee's public record about which specific pianos remain on site is unclear and staff said they will confirm the status during future site visits. No formal action was taken on disposition at the meeting; staff said that if an outside entity expresses interest in an item, the committee would bring that request back for committee approval before final transfer.
