HHS announces $5,000 congregate-site boost, vaccination clinics; county has no local measles cases

Health and Human Services staff reported a $5,000 ERC grant to revitalize congregate meal sites with a "Rise and Dine" program, scheduled vaccination clinics (including recommended COVID vaccine for uninsured/underinsured), and said measles cases were reported in the state's northeast region but none in Richland County.
Health and Human Services staff told the committee Sept. 4 that the agency received an extra $5,000 for revitalizing congregate sites and will run a "Rise and Dine" breakfast program in September.
Staff said the Rise and Dine program will be held at the Phoenix Center on Fridays in September from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and asked that people sign up through the ERC by the day before the event.
Public health staff (Brandy) also answered questions about upcoming vaccine clinics scheduled Sept. 25 and Oct. 23, saying the clinics will include the most up-to-date recommended COVID vaccine for people eligible under Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Vaccines for Adults (VFA) programs; staff said the county can provide the vaccine to uninsured or underinsured people but cannot bill it as a billable vaccine for insured patients.
Brandy also noted there have been measles cases reported in the Northeast region of the state, specifically naming El Concho County, and said there were no reported measles cases in Richland County.
Ending: staff invited committee members and residents to sign up for the Rise and Dine breakfasts and said they would continue to monitor measles reports and vaccine supply for upcoming clinics.
