The Pepper Pike City Council on May 27 approved three vehicle-related purchases: a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe for the police department, an estimated $25,000 in outfitting costs, and a 2026 Ford F-350 service truck for the service department.
City staff described the Tahoe as one of two vehicles budgeted for the year; council members referenced a total vehicle budget previously set at $140,000. The police vehicle purchase was presented with an estimated price of $55,000; the council separately authorized upfitting and wiring by a vendor identified in the meeting for a total estimated cost of $25,000.
Police and council members discussed state bid pricing and upfitting costs. A staff speaker noted the purchase was not on the state bid and estimated it was $1,000–$2,000 more than state bid pricing once upfitting costs are considered. Council approved the Tahoe purchase and the outfitting authorization on a roll call vote.
Separately, the service director described the 2026 Ford F-350 as a heavier-duty truck needed for the service department to pull trailers and to be plow-ready; the truck will be purchased through a state purchase and the estimated cost presented was about $50,000. Council approved that purchase on a roll call as well. Staff said the acquisitions were included in the city’s planned budget.
