The Brevard County School Board paused its business agenda on Aug. 26 to recognize the district procurement department for state and national honors and staff professional certifications.
Assistant Superintendent for District Operations Rashad Wilson introduced the recognition and announced that the department received the 2025 Award of Excellence in Public Procurement from the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials and the 2025 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement from the National Procurement Institute. Wilson said the awards recognize innovation, e‑procurement and transparency.
Wilson also announced that eight team members earned the Florida Certified Contract Manager credential from the Florida Department of Management Services. He called individual staff by name and asked them to stand: Trianna Castile, procurement agent II; Jessica Waldron, procurement agent II; Heidi Dotson, senior procurement agent; Will Heinsman, senior procurement agent; and Sean Hines, director of procurement and distributional services. Wilson also named Laura Chase and Michelle Cherry as staff not present and thanked "Don" for completing certification.
Board members and district leaders thanked procurement staff for contributing to fiscal stewardship and accountability. No formal action was required; the item was a ceremonial recognition.
