Stonecrest announced Aug. 25 that Lance Randall has been hired as the city’s economic development director. City Manager Scruggs introduced Randall and said he brings experience from municipal and nonprofit roles, including work in Fort Worth, the Black Business Association of Oregon and Seattle-area development programs. Scruggs said Randall has previously worked with Congressman Sanford Bishop and welcomed him to the city staff.
Randall addressed the council briefly: “I was familiar with the area before it became Stonecrest. And, I'm looking forward to the opportunity of working with everyone, elected officials, stakeholders, and the community,” he said, adding a thematic remark that the city is headed “to the summit” on economic development. The hiring was presented as an administrative appointment during the city manager’s report; the transcript records the introduction and remarks but does not show a separate formal vote on the hire at the Aug. 25 meeting.
