District submits accreditation evidence to Cognia; virtual leadership presentation set for Sept. 3

Cahuilla County School System officials told the board Aug. 12 that the district submitted its accreditation evidence and analysis to Cognia ahead of the evaluators’ visit and that a virtual leadership presentation is scheduled for Sept. 3.
‘‘We have submitted to our evaluator all of our data, all of our analysis, all of our evidence,’’ Dr. Jillian Andrew, director of assessment and accountability, said. Andrew said the district identified strengths—including relationship-building, a ‘‘proactive and connected governing board’’ and a commitment to continuous improvement—and growth areas such as expanding targeted professional learning focused on instruction and increasing support for teachers, administrators and leaders.
Andrew said the district is not waiting for final feedback and has begun implementing professional learning in instructional strategies and mentoring for new administrators and teachers. Board members thanked staff for work on the submission and expressed optimism about the upcoming visit and results.
The virtual leadership presentation with Cognia evaluators is scheduled for Sept. 3; a site visit and final accreditation outcomes will follow the evaluator timeline, the district said.
