The Bloomington Redevelopment Commission on May 5 approved an addendum to an existing engineering design contract for the Hopewell West infrastructure project, adding survey work tied to a pedestrian easement and ADA improvements.
PROJECT DETAILS: Roy Aton of the city engineering department told the commission the addendum covers additional survey work to create a pedestrian easement along the east side of Rogers Street adjacent to the property where Centerstone is located; the sidewalk currently overlaps private property and the easement will formalize pedestrian access and improve ADA accessibility. The addendum is for $1,000, bringing the consultant’s final contract amount to $797,640.
SCHEDULE AND FUNDING: Aton said the Jackson Street and Rogers alley work will go to bid in the coming weeks and that construction is anticipated to begin in August. Commissioners asked whether the work would be eligible for reimbursement from the Ready Grant; staff said the Rogers‑adjacent portion likely would not be eligible and that they would follow up for clarification.
VOTE: The commission approved Resolution 25‑54 by unanimous voice vote.
Ending: Staff said the added survey work will be incorporated into the design documents and included in the project bid package.
