Commission approves $11,666 addendum to Bee Line Trail contract for low-level lead soil disposal

The Redevelopment Commission approved an $11,666 addendum Sept. 2 to Caramida’s professional services contract for the Bee Line Trail multiuse path to cover Twin Bridges disposal fees for low-level lead-impacted soils.
City engineering staff said environmental testing found very low levels of lead in soils along the Adams-to-Fountain Drive segment and that disposal fees were now known and invoiced by waste management. “There were some soils out there that had lead impacted soils. They're very low levels,” the city engineer said. Staff previously authorized Caramida to collect and manage the soils; the addendum covers the invoiced disposal cost.
Commissioners opened the item for public comment and received none. The commission approved resolution 25-107 by roll call; votes were recorded in the meeting minutes and the resolution passed unanimously.
Background: Staff said quantities of impacted soils were not known until testing was complete, which is why disposal fees were not included in the original professional services budget. The addendum authorizes staff to pay the Twin Bridges disposal invoice through the Caramida agreement.
No amendments to scope or schedule were reported at the meeting.
