Board approves additional appropriations, transfer to rainy-day fund and swim timing system purchase

The board opened and closed a public hearing concerning additional appropriations and then approved a resolution requesting an additional appropriation of $1,871,822.25, to be allocated across supplies and curricular rentals. The board cited publication of the notice in the local paper on May 22 and May 29 as required under state law.
Separately, the board approved a resolution transferring $647,493.98 from the Education Fund to the rainy-day fund for future purposes. The board moved and seconded each resolution and approved both by voice votes.
On procurement, the board authorized the purchase of a Colorado timing system for Mishawaka High School's swimming program. District staff said funding for the timing system was found within referendum funds under technology and that the replacement will be completed within six months to be ready for the next swim season.
The consent agenda also included routine items announced earlier in the meeting, including approval of warrant and payroll totals of $7,996,568.67; these items were approved under the consent agenda motion.
