Consultants from Iron Mountain provided an update on the county's records-retention policy and schedule project, reporting progress on data collection from departments and the timeline for draft deliverables.

Christopher of Iron Mountain thanked staff for facilitating department engagement and said the work has two parts: (1) a retention schedule that catalogs record categories, required retention periods (including statute-based requirements), and disposal timing; and (2) a records policy defining roles, legal-hold procedures, and governance. He said a draft retention schedule would be available in about one week for department review and that the records policy had been completed on July 30 and was in circulation for stakeholder feedback. The contractor said the ARPA-funded project was budgeted at $105,000.

The committee received the update and had no questions; staff said the project team meets weekly and will socialize the draft documents with departments before finalization.
