Board approves five-year Genetec camera licensing and multiple software subscriptions
Summary
Portage Township Schools approved a five-year switch to Genetec camera licensing (installed by IBEW at $94,638 over five years) and a bundle of annual software subscriptions covering library systems, digital content, assessment, surveys and IT services.
The Portage Township Schools board approved a five-year agreement to switch its video-camera licensing and software to Genetec and a package of contracts for district software subscriptions at its May 27 meeting.
District staff described the camera-licensing change as a switch from the previous vendor to leverage Genetec pricing and to standardize licensing for five years rather than renewing annually. The district said the five-year Genetec licensing and software installation by IBEW is $94,638.
The board also approved a list of software contracts and subscriptions presented as a group. Items and the contract amounts stated in the meeting included: Follett library-catalog software, $15,978.38; OverDrive digital ebooks, approximately $13,000; Renaissance Accelerated Reader, $22,327.84; ASU Global Prep professional development agreement, $5,760; Hagerty Plenomic K–12 subscription, $9,300.50; Master Teacher paraeducator training subscription, $1,925; Panorama online survey software, $35,750; Healthy Roster athletic training tracking, $1,300; Acronis data backup, $8,190; and Incident IQ asset/tech-ticketing subscription, $29,893.20.
District technology director Matt Melton (mentioned by staff) was cited as consulting peers across the state to identify the best options. The board moved, seconded and approved the contracts by motion and roll call; recorded votes during the meeting indicated trustees voting in favor during the roll call.
District staff said the five-year approach to camera licensing is intended to avoid annual license changes and to standardize district security and IT infrastructure. Commitments to annual subscriptions will be administered through the appropriate departments and budget lines.
